Building agentic Infrastructure for B2B payments

At Fiat Ventures, we love watching our founders run straight at thorny infrastructure problems.

Few do it better than Sunlight. A year ago we highlighted their universal Card-on-File API; Today, that same foundation powers the agentic infrastructure layer for B2B payments the market has been waiting for.

Who is Sunlight?

B2B commerce is finally digitising, but the buyer’s accounts-payable (AP) systems and the supplier’s accounts-receivable (AR) portals still operate in silos. That disconnect forces businesses to juggle ACH files, paper checks and manual data entry while card issuers and platforms leave billions in interchange on the table.

Sunlight is building the missing infrastructure layer between AP and AR systems, powered by Agentic AI. Their autonomous “Pay‑For‑You” agent:

  • Reads an invoice and extracts structured data

  • Checks whether the supplier will accept card, and flags surcharges

  • Submits the payment by card

  • Feeds proof of payment data back to the platforms.

For AP platforms the value prop is simple: convert low-margin ACH or check transactions into high-margin card spend, without changing a line of their own code. Sunlight calls it “the missing link in modern finance operations.”

Market Traction

Sunlight is already embedded in some of the most influential finance‑ops stacks on the market. Since our last spotlight, Rippling, Rho, CapitalOS, and Parker have joined BILL, Ramp, Brex, and Tipalti, further validating Sunlight’s AP‑first strategy, positioning the firm for rapid scaling, and delivering immediate interchange upside.

AI in Fintech – Done Right

Sunlight’s autonomous “Pay-For-You” agent uses a document-AI pipeline to lift every data element off an invoice, predicts whether a supplier will accept card (and at what surcharge), then chooses and executes the optimal payment. Sunlight boosts interchange revenue for partners like BILL, Ramp, and Brex without a single line of additional code.

Why we invested in Sunlight

Founder–market fit that’s hard to beat.

At Fiat Ventures, we invest in great ideas and the teams that can make them real. Sunlight stood out with its unique potential and strong team. The founders of Sunlight have a lot of experience in Fintech, data integrations, and high-performance system architecture.

  • Guy Ziv Brings a wealth of experience in introducing disruptive technologies to medium and large financial institutions. Guy has successfully sold cutting-edge payments technology to over 30 Tier-1 banks worldwide.

  • Leo Chanea helped steer Moovit from zero to one billion users, ending in a $1 billion Intel acquisition.

  • Gil Peretz ran four engineering teams at Moovit, shipping the data-integration and payments rails that kept that scale humming.

Collectively they’ve worked together for seven years and been friends for more than a decade, giving Sunlight a rare blend of deep trust and complementary skill sets.
